What do you think we should do and why? What will make this movement effective?
We are all in this together, every idea could be that gem that we need.
So please, fire away!

If there's any way to get a hold of a trailer, I suggest building the next Thunderdome that way - not only can the Thunderdome be simply driven away when things get ugly, saving the food & such, but the Thunderdome can be moved around, driven to different locales in the Denver metro area and beyond, and can reach far more people than it could in Civic Center Park.
Maybe if it was in an RV or something similar, it could have access to electrical power, food could be refrigerated, it can have a stove to cook with, that sort of thing.

A lot of people are talking about Occupy Denver Phase Two.
That's a sentiment I support.
If we do the same thing over and over and over, we're going to get very little accomplished, get roughed up by the cops and legal system, and worst of all, get stuck in a rut.
This isn't to say we should abandon the field. We should change our tactics.
I'm for a mobile occupation - play the cat-and-mouse game through the streets of Denver, do protests, maybe sit-ins and blockades at the various banks, and find new and creative ways of waging psychological warfare against our broken system of corporate-bought government.
Maximize the amount of disruption we can generate while minimizing the system's ability to quash it.

My wife and I were discussing the idea of promoting a corporate free Xmas and a thanksgiving that focuses on those in need rather than a big meal.at the house. Our thanksgiving ideas revolved around making bags to handout to the homeless or carepackages to drop off at retirement homes or to those who need a hand over the holidays.

Let's keep emphasizing the ways the Occupy movement is advocating for regular people and their communities -- showing people that we are on their side. I'd like get a group together in the afternoons to do some visible activism in front of banks and big chain retail stores. Through sign-waiving and leafleting, we'd encourage people to switch to local credit unions, shop in locally owned stores, etc. When done right, this can be a really positive message about supporting the community, and it can go a long way toward countering the negative images of OWS that some people have been shown in the media. I'd love to hear from people who are interested in doing this or something similar. I'll do most of my work on this in the south suburbs (see the Occupy Littleton Facebook page for occasional announcements). However, it would be great if people wanted to do this all over. If I manage to get a group together, I might suggest that we do these actions for a couple of hours on weekday afternoons, during the height of the traffic rush. If you are interested in joining up with me or coordinating, contact me through my Facebook page. Maybe if this becomes a thing we can start a thread for it here.

Hi all! Thanks for all your hard, ongoing work! I also had trouble receiving an activation code through Hotmail, and was glad to see the specific note about it.
I'm not sure if we could or not, but I'm 'dying' to see a long banner sign (or two) above I-25, say on Emerson street. I would love to see us invite for Saturday rallies/marches on them, for a few days through the end of the week(s). So many people are still so isolated in their situations, it seems an I-25 sign in each direction could reach so many people, so easily.
Thanks for listening & Lov you all!!

Suggestion: OD should stroll over to the City and County Building every Monday evening for the 5:30 Denver City Council meeting. They will definitely notice our presence. If there is a "hearing", OD members should sign up to speak.

Here is a link to our plans at United Opt Out National - a movement to end punitive public school testing and corporate education reform. Of particular interest to Occupy Denver would be January 7th - National Opt Out Day in which parents, students and community members write to their school districts stating how they will opt out of corporate education reform. The slam dunk of course is opting out of the state test - this will shut down corp. ed. reformers because all of their actions occur due to test results. Here is the link to our website info for all 3 actions we are taking for the remainder of the school year (within that post are additional links for information, opt out postcards and more) January 7th is on a Saturday so we could march on National Opt Out Day! unitedoptout.com/?p=782

On the 25th, make sure you buy a couple of things at a corporation (one at a time) and pay with pennies each time. Be sure it's exact change and to count it out at the register, one by one. It's legal tender, they must take it.

A lot of people are talking about Occupy Denver Phase Two. The next step is to engage the rest of the 99% in a dialog. This could easily be done by facilitating small community "assemblies". Find a meeting place and invite the neighborhood. There is a ton of community support that just needs to be invited. Some things that can be facilitated that will help move the movement forward would be things like neighborhood CSA's, energy projects, or anything that can help Occupy be self-sustaining. Consider community actions, legal actions, foreclosure help. In general, our communities need a lot of work on all levels. It's time to start addressing deeper issues and gain strength as a community. I also like the idea of canvassing Bank customers that will give us a few minutes to share Occupiers roll to restore our community. If we take the Winter to grow our support in various ways, we can come back with crazy numbers in Spring and demand change with a solid voice! I also think that member groups that facilitate the solution for a general need should be their own autonomous GA. Anyone can participate, but the group is only responsible to its own members. Making every group autonomous will make it resilient and tailored to fit the specific needs of the community it supports!

Thanks for all the input! I will try to share my opinion on some of these great ideas soon. Rest assured, every post is read in full and taken seriously. Keep 'em comin'!
Also, keep in mind you can bring up any idea to our GA to build support for it and to get it passed.

I love the idea of a mobile kitchen, and don't know if it has been done yet. But if it hasn't, why not build one that can be hauled by a bike? As long as the dratted bike police don't outpedal you.
